CAPN Update

Happy International Nurses day to all, and Happy Birthday Florence (she would be 200 years old today)!!
First, thank you to all you do! I know everyone has been affected by this pandemic in some way. Whether working more, less, or in a different capactity, you are still a nurse and I hope you were celebrated last week. I'm sure you have been trying to sift through all the information regarding COVID-19, determining fact from fiction, and fielding questions from patients, colleagues, family, and friends; not easy, so thank you. Please check out the FNPN Newsletter that came out last week. We plan to honor our own excellent nurse during Nurse Practitioner week in November.
On behalf of the CAPN Board, I wanted to write and give you an update on the organization. We are still here and active! Some of you were able to attend the presentation a few weeks ago hosted by Sanofi on COVID-19, it was very informative. Our next virtual presentation will be June 2nd, hosted by Novo Nordisk, and the speaker is our own Kathleen Wilson. Then June 11th will be a presentation on Opioids provided by our own, Karen Myers. Look for sign up links to both of these events soon. We will get the presentations from March and April rescheduled for fall, and I sure hope we can meet again in person in July or August.
As you saw, we are moving forward with a committee to develop criteria for scholarships for NP students. The hope is to offer the reward to a deserving individual this fall. If interested in helping with this process, please email the Board, capntally@gmail.com.
Finally, we have reached out to the community in support of local nurses. Last month, we partnered with Tally Mac Shack to provide meals to all staff on a night shift at CRMC. This included not only nurses, but support staff and other departments including imaging, environmental services, and respiratory therapy. At the end of May, we are partnering with Tasty Pastry Bakery and making baskets of goodies for all units at TMH. Please be sure to like our Facebook page and check out the photo gallery on the website to see pictures of events.
Again, thank you for all you do and I look forward to seeing you in person in a few months.
