Highlighting a CAPN Member

In Celebration of National Nurse Practitioner Week” - we have initiated  a tradition of highlighting our members”.  The NP Week Committee is delighted to highlight our member Jessica Bahorski.  Let’s celebrate Jessica on her many accomplishments as an advanced practice nurse!  Jessica Bahorski, MSN, ARNP, PPCNP-BC, WHNP-BC

Jessica Bahorski is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, School of Nursing where she was prepared as a nurse practitioner. She is certified as both a pediatric primary care nurse practitioner and a women’s health nurse practitioner. She worked as an ARNP in pediatrician offices in Jacksonville and Tallahassee, then spent five years in a position similar to that of a clinical nurse specialist in pediatrics at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. During that time, she became actively involved in research and evidence-based practice. Jessica currently works as a pediatric nurse practitioner with the FSU College of Medicine in school health in Gadsden County, FL where she has the opportunity to work with children and families who have little access to healthcare services. She also works as a nurse educator at Capital Regional Medical Center for the pediatric nurses and is a full-time student in the PhD program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, School of Nursing. Her area of research insterest is pediatric obesity prevention with a focus on early feeding practices. For her dissertation she will conduct a secondary data analysis from the Infant Care, Feeding, and Risk of Obesity study which was conducted by the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Gillings School of Global Public Health. The title is, Parental Self-Efficacy and Infant Feeding Practices: A Secondary Analysis and will be conducted in 2017. Once her PhD is completed, Jessica hopes to continue in clinical practice as well as be a researcher to improve the health of children.

Jessica is a member of several professional organizations including Sigma Theta Tau, the Society of Pediatric Nurses, the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, and the Southern Nursing Research Society. She served as the chair of the Society of Pediatric Nurses Research Committee from 2013-2015.
